The results are coming in. But what do they mean?
Decoding Digital Marketing Metrics for Your Business
You've invested time, money, and effort into digital marketing campaigns. Now, the results are in, but interpreting them can feel like deciphering a foreign language. Click-through rates, bounce rates, conversions, and impressions—what do they all mean? Understanding these metrics is crucial for assessing the effectiveness of your strategies and making informed decisions. I'll guide you through a simple set of five key digital marketing ‘dials’ and how they can become the sole focus for every one of your digital marketing decisions.
Channel match – this is all about acquisition. Is each of your channels bringing the right visitor to your website? How do you measure this? Simply ‘Action’. What are they doing when they arrive?
Value Proposition – Is your value proposition clear on each landing page. Does a visitor know what you offer within seconds of arriving?
Incentive – what incentive are you offering a visitor to stay. Compelling content, discounts, intro offers, etc.
Friction – How hard are you making it to take the action you desire?
Anxiety – what’s the final kicker that will either get me to take this action or not?
If you think of these five factors as five radio dials then every decision can be viewed as either a desire to ‘rachet up’ (Channel match, Value proposition, Incentive) or ‘ratchet down’ (Friction, Anxiety).
So when you find your eyes glazing over at the 20 page monthly report or extended Powerpoint presentation. Simply bring everything back to these five dials and ask. “Which dial is this affecting?” Followed by “Is this ratcheting up or down?”
